CareMessage builds SMS and voice-based health messaging software used by over 400 community health centers, free clinics, and safety-net organizations across the United States. Their platform helps healthcare providers send medication reminders, appointment confirmations, and preventive care messages to patients who may lack reliable internet access or smartphones. Since 2013, CareMessage has reached over 20 million patients, primarily serving Medicaid recipients and uninsured populations.
Founded in 2012 by Stanford students Vineet Singal and Cecilia Corral, CareMessage is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit funded by philanthropic capital from Google.org, Schmidt Futures, and the Pershing Square Foundation. The ~65-person team has been fully remote since 2019, with employees across Brazil, India, and the United States. They practice true pay transparency: everyone at the same role and level earns identical California-benchmarked compensation, regardless of location. The team enjoys half-day Fridays year-round, 18 paid holidays including two week-long company shutdowns, and a 20-day paid sabbatical after four years.
