We’re hiring a Backend Software Engineer to join our Risk team. This group builds the real-time signals and safeguards that protect our members and financial ecosystem.
The team develops the systems that validate member identity and power risk decisioning across Dave’s products. Your work will help ensure the right balance between protecting the platform and creating a seamless member experience.
You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and platform teams to design services that support millions of members and integrate across multiple product surfaces.
Partner with product managers and engineers to understand user journeys and translate them into durable backend solutions.
The systems you build will help protect Dave’s members while enabling trusted access to financial products. Reliable risk infrastructure allows Dave to scale responsibly while maintaining a smooth experience for millions of users.
Familiarity with distributed systems and operating backend services in production environments
Experience operating high-scale systems or business-critical services
You take ownership of the systems you help build and understand how your work connects to the broader platform. You care about code quality, reliability, and improving the systems around you—not just delivering individual features. When making technical decisions, you consider trade-offs and ask thoughtful questions to understand how your work affects members and the broader business.
You also value collaboration. Risk systems intersect with many teams across Dave, so you work well with product managers, platform engineers, and other partners to design solutions that balance security, performance, and member experience. You welcome feedback, share ideas openly, and contribute to improving how the team builds and operates systems together.
