Sentry started as a two-person side project by engineers from Dropbox, GitHub, and Atlassian who wanted a better way to find their own bugs. That DNA still shapes the company: the team operates with a "you build it, you run it" philosophy where engineers own their systems end to end, processing massive event volumes across distributed infrastructure spanning multiple continents.
Sentry operates a structured hybrid model with in-office anchor days on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays across its global hubs. The culture leans on iterative shipping, direct feedback, and attention to craft. Their stated values include "Pixels matter" (obsessive product detail) and "Work in progress" (individual ownership and accountability over rigid process). Teams are cross-functional, and the company runs a technical internship program where interns work as full engineers with a dedicated mentor and are automatically considered for full-time roles.
