We are looking for a Senior Enterprise Principal Architect who can set technical direction and lead solution strategy for complex modernization pursuits and programs. This is a senior, client facing role that works directly with executive stakeholders to connect architecture decisions to business outcomes, delivery constraints, and enterprise risk.
You will lead technical win strategy during presales and carry that intent into delivery by ensuring the architecture, roadmap, scope boundaries, and risk mitigations hold up when execution starts. You will operate across multiple strategic accounts and priority pursuits, while also building reusable approaches that improve consistency across teams.
This is primarily a matrix leadership role, meaning you lead outcomes across pursuit and delivery teams through influence, executive alignment, and decision ownership without relying on direct line management authority; direct people leadership is not a primary requirement today, but may be available over time for candidates who are interested and demonstrate readiness.
What you will do
Solution shaping and technical win
- Lead solution shaping and technical win strategy for complex modernization pursuits from discovery through close.
- Run executive discovery to surface desired outcomes, constraints, nonfunctional requirements, and key risks early.
- Translate discovery into clear solution options, architecture narratives, and multi year roadmaps with phased transformation plans.
- Define scope boundaries, assumptions, dependencies, and acceptance criteria to reduce ambiguity at close and kickoff.
- Identify architectural, security, and feasibility risks during presales and drive specific mitigations into proposals and commercial terms.
Executive advisory and vision setting
- Serve as a trusted executive technology advisor across strategic accounts.
- Set credible technology vision and transformation strategy that executives can fund, sequence, and govern.
- Frame decisions in business terms by clearly explaining options, tradeoffs, and risk.
Architecture and delivery leadership
- Set technical direction across enterprise modernization spanning applications, cloud platforms, and data and artificial intelligence.
- Make principled tradeoffs across speed versus quality, custom build versus platform, and innovation versus stability.
- Step in when decisions are contested or delivery risk rises, restore clarity, and align teams on a path forward.
- Establish clear decision making under uncertainty using lightweight decision frameworks and written decision records.
Firmwide impact, market presence, and partner leadership
- Create and scale reference architectures, solution playbooks, and guardrails that improve pursuit speed and delivery consistency.
- Contribute to consulting offerings and accelerators that are deliverable at scale and aligned with market demand.
- Provide thought leadership through client forums and executive briefings.
- Align with Microsoft field teams and partner stakeholders to strengthen joint solutioning and pursuit execution.
- Mentor senior architects and technical leaders through influence and hands on guidance.
Innovation and horizon scanning
- Track emerging technology and industry shifts and translate them into practical client options.
- Turn innovation into clear recommendations, pilot approaches, and phased adoption paths that balance value, risk, and operational readiness.
How success is measured
- Priority pursuits convert into signed engagements with clear scope, credible architecture, and delivery plan.
- Reduced late stage deal rework driven by gaps in security, feasibility, or nonfunctional requirements.
- Strong presales to delivery continuity, reflected in fewer kickoff escalations and fewer contested commitments.
- Multi year roadmaps and transformation strategies are adopted and actively used by strategic accounts.
- Reusable patterns and playbooks are adopted across multiple teams and clients.
- Strong partner impact through joint pursuits and effective Microsoft field alignment.
Required qualifications
- Proven experience leading solution shaping and technical win strategy for complex modernization pursuits, from discovery through close.
- Deep expertise in Microsoft Azure architecture, including enterprise scale adoption, governance, security, and integration.
- Experience setting technical direction for enterprise modernization across applications, cloud platforms, and data, including governance and operating model implications.
- Demonstrated ability to surface architectural, security, and feasibility risks early and drive clear mitigations into proposals and plans.
- Strong executive communication skills with the ability to translate technical decisions into business impact, constraints, and risk.
- Track record resolving contested decisions and restoring momentum when ambiguity rises.
- Experience leading through matrix influence across account, engineering, security, and delivery stakeholders.
- Willingness to travel up to 25 percent as needed.
- Maintain, or be willing to obtain and maintain, relevant professional certifications.
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with hybrid environments and additional cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience shaping consulting offerings, accelerators, or platforms that improved win rate or delivery consistency.
- Experience presenting in executive forums, steering committees, or board level settings.
